When is the election?
The general election is Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Union City elects City Council members on that day. For official dates and deadlines, see the Alameda County Registrar of Voters at acvote.alamedacountyca.gov.

How do I know if I live in District 4?
Union City elects councilmembers by district. Use the city's interactive district map to look up your address: experience.arcgis.com/experience/5529cd7940b741ab937b2eaecee0dd2f (also linked from unioncityca.gov under Voter Information).

How do I register to vote?
California residents can register online at registertovote.ca.gov, by mail, or in person. Same-day registration is available at county voting locations. Check your status and current deadlines with the Alameda County Registrar of Voters at acvote.alamedacountyca.gov.

What does a city councilmember actually do?
The City Council sets city policy, adopts the budget, approves land use and housing decisions, and oversees city services. It does not run the school district, the county, or BART, though it does work with all of them.

How can I help the campaign?
The most useful things are talking to your neighbors, joining a canvass, making calls, hosting a conversation on your block, or helping translate materials. Sign up on the volunteer page and we will follow up with specific opportunities.
